Hilton Head Beach Bars
The primary Hilton Head Beach is nearly twelve miles long, and at low tide more than three football fields wide. It is a great place to cruise on a bike. On a typical calm and sunny day, with little effort you can coast from one end to the other in the same time it takes to watch 60 Minutes. Should you not want to do it in one swoop, there are few places you can stop. Nearly every mile and a half there is a beach bar, perch, TiKi hut or such, where, you can get your choice of thirst quenchers and perks. Depending on the time, some of these Island beach clubs will offer entertainment.
Starting at the Islands North End, just south of the true Hilton Head, is the Pelican at the Westin Resort. It is a full service beach lounge with a deck and some excellent views. Only want a snickers, there is a snack bar.
Between Westin and the next beach bar at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort are two public beach accesses with parking, facilities, and vending machines. The Islanders Beach Park is first and then the Folly Field Beach Park. The HHBT beach bar, adjacent to its ocean side pool, offers a lunch menu and all kinds of beverages. During the afternoon, there is normally entertainment. Just past the beach bar is another public access park, Driessens. It too has full facilities and parking.
Before coming to the folly is the new Surf Watch by Marriott, while just beyond the folly is a hidden beach bar at the Hilton Head Resort. It is a small and friendly spot. A mile down and we arrive at the Marriott. It has a grouping area around its pool where you could stop for a sip and some mingling. Half a mile down is the Shorehouse at the Hilton. It is behind the dunes, hidden from view, but worth finding. You may well find some good entertainment here.
The next stop off point is the Crown Plaza in Shipyard. Its bar is also hidden by the dunes, but easily found. Between it and the next beach bar is the Coligny Beach Park. Here you will find full facilities. The next stop is the beach bar at the Holiday Inn. The TiKi hut may well be the Hilton Head Island''s most notorious beach bar. You will have no trouble finding it or hearing it. Usually quite crowded, it is Hilton Head's answer to Venice Beach but with out the weights.
It is two miles into Sea Pines for the next, the best and last beach bar. The Turtle Lane Beach Club AKA Sea Pines Beach Club is a full service beach club. You can find a snack, listen to entertainment or get into a volley ball game. The SPBC is the furthest south of all the beach bars. If you continue south the next possible stop is the Tower Beach Club. It is recognizable because of the water tower. Normally, the Tower beach Club is reserved for Sea Pines residents. Should you really want to make a day of it, you can exit at any of the beachwalks in this area and head to the Salty Dog. Although not a true beach bar, it is outside and a good meeting spot.
