Forest Beach Hilton Head

The Forest Beach area of Hilton Head is a two and a half stretch of beach reaching from the Sea Pines Resort ocean gate to the Crown Plaza Resort in Shipyard Plantation. Forest Beach is divided into two sections; South Forest Beach is the one mile stretch from the SP's gate to Coligny Circle while North Forest Beach runs from Coligny to the Crown.

Beginning at the Sea Pines end, South Forest Beach starts with beach oriented homes, but after a third of a mile it becomes what we call *Villa Row*. Here one will find numerous ocean front and ocean oriented villa clusters like the Seaside Villas and Surf court. This is also the area one will find numerous hotels like the Holiday Inn.

Reaching Coligny Circle the drive becomes North Forest Beach. Coligny Circle is the closest the island has to a downtown, and is an infamous landmark. In this area there are more than a hundred boutique style shops, and fifty restaurants. It is also the Island's largest public parking area, so the beach does get a bit crowded here. This is the lively area of the island.

There are a couple of condo complexes on NFB like the North Shore Place, but the bulk of accommodations in this area are beach homes. The North Forest Beach side streets for the most part are named alphabetically, and are primarily bird names. You will see names like Avocet, Flamingo and Lark dotting the sign posts. On the beach side these side streets connect with Dune Lane where one may see an eight bedroom ocean compound adjacent to an old Lowcountry beach cottage
