West Side

[shrimp docks on Hilton Head Island]

Hilton Head Island’s western side is paralleled by the Inter-coastal Waterway, separating the Island from Jenkins Island, a protected  preserve, and the mainland. From Dolphin Head to the bridge the Island is dotted with docks, some moored with shrimp boats and others with yachts. Beyond the bridge is the Spanish Wells area ending at Brahms Point. At Brahms Point, Broad Creek meets the Sound. With tidal surges Broad Creek nearly cuts the Hilton Head in two,  less than half a mile separates its eastern end from the ocean. This calm, sound fed creek is a great spot for water activities, and is lined by some brilliant estates. In addition to Brahms  Point and Wexford Plantation, Palmetto Bay Marina, Broad Creek Marina, and Shelter Cove Marina also line the banks of Broad Creek.. South of Broad Creek is the Calibogue Sound, the Harbourtown Marina, and the Island’s southern tip, all parts of Sea Pines Plantation.
