Hilton Head Island Wireless Hotspots

Fifty years ago the Hilton Head was getting ready for a bridge and just getting accustomed to having electricity. Now we have Internet hot spots scattered across the landscape. While on holiday, if you need to have Internet connections they are easily found. Most all the Hilton Head vacation rental properties will have some type of access. If you have Wi-Fi you can easily connect almost any where. Below is a partial list of available free connections.

Like anything for free there are some caveats. The vast majority of the free connections are not across secure lines. You do want to ensure you do no connect to an ad hoc peer to peer network, a trap set by one with a nearby laptop. In this connection method, you are running every thing through their computer. If you need computer time and did not bring your laptop there are some alternatives. You can stop at the Hargray store on William Hilton Parkway; they have a few machines for use. The library rents time on its dozen computers. Most property management companies will allow usage of their machines, and even the car wash has machines for your usage. There is also a computer cafe in the Coligny Plaza.
